Carlos Eduardo Gonçalves is a Senior Economist in the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department, and has been a contributor to the Fiscal Monitor since 2021. Before joining the Fund in 2015, he was a full professor of economics at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. His academic work appeared in important peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of International Economics and Journal of Development Economics.
